» Hosted by Tony Schiavone, Scott Hudson, and Mark Madden• Before the matches began, Eric Bischoff, Vince Russo, Billy Kidman, and Torrie Wilson were backstage. Bischoff was worried because Hogan checked himself out of a hospital in Denver, while Kidman and Russo told him not to worry.
WCW WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE TOURNAMENT MATCH
The Mamalukes w/Disco Inferno vs. Team Package w/Elizabeth
- After the introductions were made, Vince Russo came out and said that he was going to make it more even, so he sent out the Harris Boys, making it a 4 on 2 match. There was total mayhem in the ring. The Total Package fought with the Harris Boys on the outside while Flair took care of the Mamalukes in the ring. Flair put the Figure Four on Johnny The Bull, but let go to check on Package. Flair was hit with a superkick from Big Vito and was put down. Vito continued to remain in control with a nice back elbow. The Harris Boys came into the ring and hit a double big boot on Flair. Flair continued to be manhandled by every member of the opposition. Flair went up top, but was thrown by one of the Harris Boys. Two people came from the back and took the Disco Inferno to the back. Madden said something about they looked Sicilian. Big Vito went up top but was nailed in the get by Package. Johnny The Bull then came into the ring, but was racked by Package. Johnny The Bull tapped out, and Team Package was victorious.
Winners: Team Package (advanced to finals of tournament)
• Mike Awesome was revealed by Mene Gene to be the eighth man in the U.S. title tournament. As Awesome was telling Gene how he was going to beat the hell out of the Cat, Bam Bam Bigelow interrupted wanting to know where the jabroni came from. Awesome attacked the Bammer when he turned his back.
Jimmy Hart w/Emory Hale vs. Mancow
- This match happened as a result of Hart attacking Mancow during a radio show that was being conducted with Hart and Hulk Hogan. Hart came out wearing a Howard Stern shirt and accompanied by Emory Hale. Mancow came to the ring with a heram of women. Mancow jumped Hart from behind, but Hart rebounded with a low blow after Hale provided a distraction. Hart jumped from the top rope, but the radio host pulled the referee on top of him. Hale then jumped in the ring, gorilla press slamming Mancow on top of the radio host's friends Terd and the Whipping Boy. Mancow rebounded by smacking Hart in the back with a chair to take the win. After the bell, Kidman attacked Hart.
Winner: Mancow
• Vince Russo was smashing a ball bat against a wall as he was screaming at the Harris Boys and the Mamalukes.
WCW U.S. TITLE TOURNAMENT MATCH
Scott Steiner vs. The Wall
- Arguably two of the strongest men in WCW, and all of wrestling battled it out in this contest with the winner advancing in the tournament to crown a new U.S. champion. Using that borderline psychotic intensity, Steiner beat the Wall down to the mat. The Wall fought back to do beat Steiner down to the mat. The Wall then used his power to dominate Steiner for the next couple of minutes. The fight continued on the outside where Wall attempted to chokeslam Steiner through a table. Instead, Big Poppa Pump pulled the referee in front of him, and he was chokeslammed through a table. Another referee disqualified the Wall for his actions.
Winner: Scott Steiner (advanced to semi-finals of tournament)
• The Cat was discussing his upcoming match with Mene Gene when he was attacked by Bam Bam Bigelow.
WCW U.S. TITLE TOURNAMENT MATCH
Mike Awesome vs. Bam Bam Bigelow
- Due to the Cat being put out by Bigelow, Awesome faced the Bammer in this match. The two spent most of the time fighting on the outside with Awesome flying over the top rope and the guard rail to get to Bigelow. In the ring, Bigelow hit the flying headbutt from the top, but was kicked in the face by the Cat as he was preparing to hit the "Greetings from Asbury Park." The Cat put on his red shoes, and began dancing, but was put down by an Awesome clothesline. A frog splash later, Awesome advanced in the U.S. title tournament.
Winner: Mike Awesome (advanced to semi-finals of tournament)
• Bischoff was growing more worried about the arrival of Hulk Hogan, especially after Kidman's attack on Jimmy Hart. Kidman assured Bischoff that Hogan was too scared to show up. With Mene Gene mediating, Kidman again assured Bischoff that he crippled Hogan on Monday Nitro.
WCW WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE TOURNAMENT MATCH
Harlem Heat 2000 w/J. Biggs & Cash vs. Shane Douglas & Buff Bagwell
- This match between two different teams in the New Blood would determine would go onto the finals to face Team Package for the vacated tag team titles. As Cash and J. Biggs observed from the outside, the four competitors had a dogfight in the middle of the ring. Douglas and Bagwell used wrestling moves to keep their larger opponents off of their feet, but Bagwell was put down after a spine buster/leg drop combination by Harlem Heat. As Cash attacked Bagwell on the outside, Harlem Heat dominated Douglas on the inside. Douglas looked as if he was going to nail Stevie Ray with the Pittsburgh Plunge, but instead, turned it into a vertical suplex to propel him and Bagwell to the tag team tournament finals.
Winners: Shane Douglas & Buff Bagwell (advanced to finals of tournament)
WCW U.S. TITLE TOURNAMENT MATCH
Sting vs. Booker
- This U.S. title tournament match began with Sting shoving Booker asking him if he was really a member of the New Blood. After a flurry of punches by Booker, Sting battled back with a couple of clotheslines that sent Booker onto the floor. On the outside, Sting tried to splash Booker near the broadcast table, but Booker caught Sting, ramming his chin into the table. In the ring, Booker used a rear chin lock to wear down the Stinger. Booker followed with an ax kick to the back of the head and a modified flapjack. Sting fought back to nail Booker with a DDT. Sting hit a Stinger splash. When he tried for a second, Booker nailed the "Franchise" with a Harlem side kick. Booker attempted to follow up, but fell right into a scorpion death drop. After the bell, Booker pushed Sting to get his attention to get back in the ring. There, Booker extended his hand to Sting in a show of respect.
Winner: Sting (advanced to semi-finals of tournament)
WCW U.S. TITLE TOURNAMENT MATCH
Vampiro vs. Kidman w/Torrie Wilson
- Vampiro opened up this U.S. title tournament match by punching and headbutting Kidman to the mat. Vampiro used his uncanny speed to gain the advantage over Kidman. However, the Kid rebounded with a hurancanrana and dropkick, only to be victimized by a toss powerbomb, courtesy of Vampiro. Kidman took the advantage of the match with a face jam followed by a guillotine leg drop. On the outside, Vampiro hit his knee on the point of the steel ring steps. During the match, a black Dodge Charger screeched into the arena. Hulk Hogan, taped up, hit the ring. Kidman attacked Hulk on the way in, but Hogan tossed Kidman over the top rope and gave Kidman a severe beating on the outside. Hogan stood on the ring steps, picked Kidman up in a double choke hold and slammed him onto the broadcast table. After seeing that the table did not break, Hogan body slammed Kidman through the table. He then threw Kidman in the ring, allowing Vampiro to gain the pinfall victory. After the bell, Hogan said that he hoped Bischoff was paying attention, because he was after him next. Bischoff tried to leave, but Russo told him he would take care of him. Hogan found Bischoff, but as he was ready to attack him, the police showed up, pulling their guns on the Hulkster, and arresting him.
Winner: Vampiro (advanced to semi-finals of tournament)
WCW HARDCORE TITLE MATCH
Norman Smiley vs. Terry Funk
- This match started in the men's room next to the catering room in the arena. Smiley was hiding, but Funk found him, thanks to Terry Taylor, who told Funk where the Screamin' One was hiding. Once in the kitchen, Smiley sprayed hot water into Funks' face, followed by a trio of trash can shots. In the hallway, Funk pounded Smiley in the head with a laptop computer. At one point, Smiley was hanging from the pipes in the building. However, Funk nailed Smiley with a chair, who fell from the pipes and through a table. The two fought from the back of the building back to the ring, where the two exchanged chair shots. As Funk pulled a ladder from under the ring, Dustin Rhodes attacked, piledriving Funk on top of a chair. As Rhodes tried to come from the top with a chair, Funk kicked the chair in his face. Funk then threw the ladder from inside the ring onto Smiley, who was on the outside. He then covered Smiley to become the new hardcore champion.
Winner: Terry Funk (new WCW Hardcore Champion)
• Vince Russo told Booker to quit screwing up and pissing off Eric Bischoff. He told him everything would be alright if he did a favor for him.
WCW U.S. TITLE TOURNAMENT MATCH
Scott Steiner vs. Mike Awesome
- The winner between two of the most chiseled men in WCW would go on to face the winner of the Sting/Vampiro match. Steiner began by reverting back to his amateur skills and hitting Awesome with a hard crossface. Steiner put Awesome down with a chothesline, but the newcomer propelled himself over the top rope like a torpedo, putting Big Poppa Pump on his back. As Awesome was about to fly from the top, Kevin Nash smacked a crutch over his back. Steiner capitalized with the Steiner recliner for the win.
Winner: Scott Steiner (advanced to finals of tournament)
• While Booker tried to calm Dustin Rhodes down, Vince Russo told the former "Goldust" that he was nothing, and that he was fired.
WCW U.S. TITLE TOURNAMENT MATCH
Vampiro vs. Sting
- This match was a semi final match in the U.S. title tournament and a chance for Sting to gain revenge against Vampiro, after the New Blood member turned on his "brother in paint." Vampiro opened up quickly, before Sting could even take his coat off. Sting absorbed the blows of Vampiro to knock him to the mat. Vampiro hit Sting with a massive shoulderblock followed by a high leg drop to take firm control of the match. Sting fought back with a scorpion death drop and then forced his former protege to submit to the scorpion deathlock.
Winner: Sting (advanced to finals of tournament)
WCW WORLD CRUISERWEIGHT TITLE MATCH
SUICIDE SIX-MAN MATCH
Shannon Moore w/Shane Helms vs. The Artist w/Paisley vs. Crowbar w/Daffney & David Flair vs. Chris Candido vs. Lash Leroux vs. Juventud Guerrera
- This suicide six man match to determine the new cruiserweight champion began with Leroux and Crowbar rushing the ring, and putting an end to the singing of Helms and Moore. All six men attempted their finishing maneuvers early, but to no avail. Daffney mistakingly hit the Frankenscreamer on Crowbar. The action spilled to the outside where there were bodies flying everywhere. As the other four men were battling on the outside, the Artist and Chris Candido battled on the inside. Out of nowhere, Tammy Lynn Sytch appeared, pushed the Artist from the top rope, and then pushed Chris Candido on top of the Artist, giving Candido the cruiserweight title. Paisley and Tammy fought after the bell. Tammy also got a handful of Three Count.
Winner: Chris Candido (new WCW World Cruiserweight Champion)
• Jeff Jarrett responding to DDP, said he would walk out of Chicago with the world title.
WCW WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH
Team Package w/Elizabeth vs. Shane Douglas & Buff Bagwell
- The winners of this match would determine who the new undisputed tag team champions of the world would be. Vince Russo accompanied the New Blood to the ring and took his spot at the broadcast position where he "predicted" there would be new world tag team champions. Bagwell used a series of clotheslines to keep Luger off of his feet to start the match. After gorilla press slamming Douglas, the Package tagged in the Nature Boy who beat on Douglas on the outside. Bagwell then tagged in and used punches, kicks, and chokeholds to dominate Flair for the next few minutes. Douglas then took advantage of Flair. Buff tried to hit Flair with the Blockbuster, but mistakingly hit Douglas. Russo pulled Nick Patrick out of the ring as he was making the three count. As Patrick and Russo were righting, Bryan Adams and Brian Clark interfered double slamming the Package. Buff then covered the Package, while Russo made the three count.
Winners: Buff Bagwell & Shane Douglas (new WCW World Tag Team Champions)
WCW UNITED STATES TITLE MATCH
Sting vs. Scott Steiner
- These two men who have traveled the roads together were now battling it out to see who would become the new U.S. champion. Sting, with the crowd firmly behind him, fought back from an attack in the corner to deliver two dropkicks that sent Steiner to the outside. Back in the ring, Steiner used his overwhelming power to dominate Sting. The Stinger fought back with two monstrous clotheslines. Sting hit Steiner with a Stinger splash. When he went for the second, Steiner pulled the referee in the way. Sting hit another, and when he went for another, Vampiro popped up through the ring, pulling Sting down with him. Once they came back up, Sting was bleeding from his mouth. Sting appeared to be unconscious as Big Poppa Pump applied the Steiner Recliner for the win.
Winner: Scott Steiner (new WCW United States Champion)
WCW WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH
Diamond Dallas Page w/Kimberly vs. Jeff Jarrett
- This match was not just a chance for Page to become the World champion, but a chance to gain revenge on Jarrett for breaking a guitar over the head of his wife Kimberly. Page started out quicky with a variation of the ddt. On the outside, DDP held Jarrett while Kimberly smacked the "Chosen One" in the mouth. The two fought through the fans, where Page was about to spit beer on his opponent, but was instead the victim of a low blow, followed by a shot by a trash can. Back in the ring, Jarrett fought back with a suplex off the top rope. Jarrett followed up with two chair shots in the injured back of Page, but was stopped by referee Charles Robinson when he tried for a third shot. Jarrett then went to work on the back of Page. DDP fought back to nail Jarrett with a powerbomb as Eric Bischoff took his place on the ramp. On the outside, Jarrett took a copy of DDP's book "Positively Page" and began ripping pages out of it. Kimberly grabbed Jarrett's hair and began pulling him up the aisle, but Jarrett freed himself and warned Kimberly to stay away. DDP went for the diamond cutter, but Jarrett held onto the ropes, which also knocked down Robinson. Jarrett took the opportunity whack Page with the world title belt, but Page kicked out. Jarrett applied the figure four as Kimberly grabbed the guitar and Bischoff inched his way to the ring. After a series of pin attempts, Jarrett applied a sleeper hold. While Bischoff distracted the referee, Kimberly struck her husband in the head with the guitar, allowing Jarrett to hit the "Stroke" to become the new WCW champion. After the bell, Kimberly embraced Eric Bischoff and became a member of the New Blood.
Winner: Jeff Jarrett (new WCW World Heavyweight Champion)
