Big Title Change At NJPW’s Fighting Spirit Unleashed Event

One of the marquee matches for tonight’s Fighting Spirit Unleashed, New Japan Pro Wrestling’s latest live event in the United States, was a tag team war between the Young Bucks and the Guerrillas of Destiny for the IWGP heavyweight tag team titles. After a brutal back and forth affair the Tongans (Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa) were able to defeat the Jackson brothers after a double-team Gun-Stun, giving the G.O.D. their fourth reign as champions of the division.

The feud between the Tongans and members of the Elite began at the G1 Special in California, and has driven a wedge between the once strong Bullet Club Faction. Their reasonsing for the split: the power struggle between Kenny Omega and Cody Rhodes that has been ongoing for nearly half a year. The G.O.D. gave Cody a chance to join them after their attack at the G1, but the American Nightmare instead decided to reunite with the Cleaner.

Now, with the titles in the hands of Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa, the power has shifted to the newly dubbed, “Firing Squad” sect of the group.
