Following an injury sustained at the Rebellion pay-per-view, new world champion Brian Cage missed several IMPACT events this past weekend, including Sunday’s scheduled title defense in Queens against Sami Callihan. The match was changed to a street fight between Callihan and ECW legend Tommy Dreamer. According to the Wrestling Observer, Cage noted that he wasn’t recovering as well as he had hoped. Still no word on his return. Angle-wise, IMPACT says that the injury was due to Michael Elgin’s attack.
Reports also state that IMPACT president Ed Nordholm took Cage to the hospital after Rebellion concluded, an act that “wasn’t lost on the talent.”
