Eric Young on Winning & Losing, Doing What WWE Asks of Him, How Losing Can Be Cool

WWE RAW Superstar Eric Young recently appeared on The Full 60 podcast and talked about his mindset when it comes to winning and losing in pro wrestling, and his run in the business, over Impact Wrestling and WWE.

Young also commented on how some wrestlers can get carried away and start believing their own characters.

“It can happen, that kind of stuff gets weeded out. You lose your job,” Young said of talents who get upset over losing too often. “I like to pay my bills on time. Part of that is being a professional. In all walks of life, some guys can get carried away and start believing their own thing. I’m paying a character on television. I’m not in a real fight and I’m not losing anything. I’m not winning anything. I was told I can do that. I don’t know how many belts I’ve won in my career, but it’s hundreds. It’s an amazing feeling, especially in WWE where I held the NXT Tag Team Titles. I held the TNA World Title. That’s a million or billion dollar company saying ‘we like what you’re doing and we trust you.’

“There’s no bigger compliment in wrestling than being a champion. But, in no way did I beat anyone. I’ve done a bunch of things right and my skills are at the top level and I’m someone interesting enough to be in that position. But, winning and losing, I’m an employee and will do whatever they ask me to do. Winning and losing hasn’t bothered me ever and I don’t think it ever will. Winning is great, but losing as a bad guy can be very cool too.”
