According to Yahoo! Japan, 40 year old Takeshi Morishima was taken into custody for allegedly assaulting a taxi driver. The incident escalated when Morishima refused to pay his fare, and attacked the driver fracturing his right cheek.
Morishima is best remembered for defeating Homicide in 2007 to become the first non-american Ring of Honor champion, and defending the belt against the likes of Austin Aries, Nigel McGuinness, Kenta (Hideo Itami), Roderick Strong, and Jay Briscoe, as well as a slew of defenses in Japan. He would lose the belt to Nigel McGuinness at Undeniable after an impressive 231 day run.
No word on the charges made against Morishima at this time, or if this setback effects his planned in-ring return for 2018.
