Main Event Announced For Tomorrow’s ROH “War Of The Worlds” Event In Buffalo

Ring of Honor issued the following press release announcing that the Guerrillas of Destiny defending the ROH tag team championship against Jay Lethal and Jonathan Gresham will be the main event of tomorrow’s War of the World event in Buffalo, New York. Check out details below.

The partnership between Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro-Wrestling has never been stronger following the historic G1 Supercard in front of a sold-out Madison Square Garden! The fallout from G1 Supercard will be on full display when ROH and NJPW partner once again to deliver the 2019 War of the Worlds Tour! A staple since 2014, the tour is in its sixth year and will feature dream matches, title matches, and first-time matches you cannot see anywhere else with the stars of ROH and NJPW!

The Main Event for War of the Worlds – Buffalo has been signed! As a result of winning Jay Lethal has held the ROH World Title for more days than anyone. He also has held the ROH World Television Title for more days than anyone. But Lethal has zero days as an ROH World Tag Team Champion.

That could soon change, however. Lethal and Jonathan Gresham defeated LifeBlood’s Mark Haskins and “Hot Sauce” Tracy Williams in a 30-Minute Iron Man Tag Team Match at Masters of the Craft on April 14 in Columbus, Ohio to earn a title match with ROH World Tag Team Champions The Guerrillas of Destiny — Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa. (Watch the Masters of the Craft replay on HonorClub).

MAIN EVENT
ROH WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS GUERRILLAS OF DESTINY (TAMA TONGA & TONGA LOA) vs. JAY LETHAL & JONATHAN GRESHAM

Just eight days removed from having his second reign as ROH World Champion ended by Matt Taven in a Triple Threat Ladder Match, Lethal wasted no time getting back in the win column. In a match that was fitting for an event titled Masters of the Craft, Lethal and Gresham edged Haskins and Williams, two falls to one.

The team that they will face are dual title holders – coming out of the historic G1 Supercard at Madison Square Garden, the Guerrillas of Destiny made history, becoming the first team to capture both the ROH World Tag Team Championships and IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Championships simultaneously. But since then, the duo has disparaged the titles, tossing them with recklessness and acting above the gold.

Lethal has been focused on singles competition for the majority of his career in ROH, but he and Gresham have teamed several times over the past eight months, and — not surprisingly — they’ve been highly successful. During that span, Lethal and Gresham defeated the likes of The Young Bucks, Jushin “Thunder” Liger and KUSHIDA, Coast 2 Coast, and Haskins and Williams (twice). For Lethal, a man known as “The Franchise”, and Gresham, this match is not only about winning gold, but also restoring honor back to ROH!
