Ring of Honor has announced that Villain Enterprises member PCO will challenge Matt Taven for the ROH world title at the May 9th event War of the Worlds in Toronto. PCO earned this shot after pinning Taven during a six-man tag at Masters of the Craft. Press release is below.
Matt Taven was riding high after winning the ROH World Title at G1 Supercard, but he came crashing down to earth when PCO came crashing down on him at Masters of the Craft in Columbus, Ohio on April 14.
In an ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Title Match between champions Villain Enterprises (Marty Scurll, PCO and Brody King) and former champions The Kingdom (Taven, TK O’Ryan and Vinny Marseglia), the electrifying PCO shocked the sold-out crowd by pinning Taven after landing a moonsault off the top rope. By virtue of PCO pinning the world champion, ROH officials have signed an ROH World Title match between “The French-Canadian Frankenstein” and Taven in PCO’s home country of Canada when The War of the Worlds tour makes a stop in Toronto on May 9. (The show will stream live for HonorClub).
It will be PCO’s first opportunity to compete for the ROH World Title. Since making his ROH debut last December, the seemingly inhuman PCO has been unstoppable. Appearing to be impervious to pain, PCO has already won the ROH World Tag Team and World Six-Man Tag Team titles.
The ultra-confident and obnoxious Taven went to Columbus expecting to walk out with more gold, but instead he found himself looking up at the lights as PCO raised the ROH World Title belt above his head. Was it a look into the future?
We’ll find out on May 9 at War of the Worlds in Toronto.
