Ring Of Honor Releases 10 Questions With Former WWE Star PJ Black

Ring of Honor released a 10-question interview with current star PJ Black. Check out “The Darewolf’s” responses below, which include his favorite wrestlers growing up, the advice his father gave him before entering the business, what he would have wanted to do besides wrestling, and more!

1. If you hadn’t gone into pro wrestling, what would you be doing for a living?

I have a master’s degree in sports science and nutrition, so probably a holistic sports doctor. Or more likely a cult leader. Or maybe an extreme athlete sponsored by NASA. Or maybe all of the above, who knows?

2. What advice did your father give you about the wrestling business when you decided to follow in his footsteps and pursue it as a career?

Never bang the Divas.

3. Other than your father, who were your favorite wrestlers growing up?

All the colorful characters from the ’90s. Macho Man, Mr. Perfect, Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, Adam Bomb, Papa Shango, Bastion Booger.

4. What’s a subject you’d like to know more about?

Aliens, quantum physics, time traveling monks, astral projection.

5. What’s something that’s popular that you just don’t see the appeal of?

Kardashians.

6. Do you have a guilty pleasure?

Too many to list. But top of that list is baking cakes. I used to be a chef for years.

7. We know you’re very into nutrition. What can you tell us about your diet?

As a nutritionist, my ongoing research in this field has been a great journey. It’s my passion. But in the last year, I’ve really done some research on insulin and fasting. I combine intermittent fasting with the ketogenic diet. I also do prolonged fasts once a month and super-long fasts — 72 hours – once a year. Fasting is for longevity and anti-aging. Keto diet is very high fats — 75 percent from fats, 20 percent protein, 5 percent carbs — and the brain power you get from that is what attracted me most to this. The fact that it makes you drop crazy amounts of body fat is just a bonus. If your body runs on ketones it’s like running on rocket fuel. As opposed to running on glycogen (carbs) as a first choice. Very powerful.

8. You’ve done things such as  jump out of airplanes, base-jumping, motorcycle stunts. Is there anything out there that’s so extreme that you won’t attempt it?

Have kids. That’s way too extreme for me.

9. Is there any adrenaline-rush activity you want to do that you haven’t done yet?

I have a list, actually. But I’ll need sponsors because I’m going to need a lot of gadgets and a gargantuan crew to pull it off. Working on it though, so watch this space!

10. You’ve admitted that you came into ROH with the wrong attitude and a willingness to take shortcuts. What would you say to any fans reading this who may be skeptical about your recent change of heart?

I’ve learned some valuable lessons in my time here. I think it’s an evolving process and it’s still something I’m working on daily. I’ve spent some time with monks, gurus, clairvoyants and spiritual leaders but still haven’t really found myself yet. My whole life, good and bad, has unfolded in front of people, so I try to make better choices now. The universe is my guide now.
