Stephen Amell Lands Lead Role in Wrestling Drama “Heels”

Now that Arrow has filmed its 10-episode season finale, Stephen Amell has signed on for a lead role in the Starz show “Heels.” The TV show has been pitched for years but never received the green light until Amell got the part.

The show is now set for a 8-episode straight to series season and takes place in the crazy world of indy wrestling. Written by Michael Waldron (Community) and directed by Kyle Patrick Alvarez (The Stanford Prison Experiment), the story of the show will focus on two brothers who are also enemies. Amell will play the part of the heel who is battling with his brother inside a local Georgia independent wrestling company over their father’s legacy. His character is being described as “Steve Job-esque.”

Stephen Amell recently faced Christopher Daniels at AEW’s All In PPV in a losing effort. Prior to his singles match, Amell was mostly known for tag team appearances in Indy promotions along side the Bullet Club and Elite. His first match took place at WWE SummerSlam with his partner Neville to face King Barrett and his “nemesis” Stardust AKA Cody Rhodes. Cody guest starred on Amell’s hit show “Arrow” sevent times as Derek Sampson.
