During the preliminary tag matches of today’s G1 Climax Final in Budokan Hall, KENTA (fka Hideo Itami in WWE) betrayed partners Tomohiro Ishii & YOSHI-HASHI and joined forces with the evil Bullet Club faction. KENTA’s mentor, the very popular Katsuyori Shibata, ran out to confront KENTA, and even landed a surprising amount of offense, Shibata’s first action since he had to retire from in-ring action due to injury. Eventually the numbers proved too much for Shibata, and KENTA laid him out with a sleeper-hold/PK combo, with the Bullet Club posing over Shibata to end the segment.
Shibata was the man who brough KENTA to NJPW once he finished with WWE. KENTA was a predominant player with Pro-Wrestling NOAH prior to joining NXT. Check it out below.
