New Japan Pro Wrestling has just announced that IWGP Junior Heavyweight champion Will Ospreay will not be competing in tonight’s G1 Climax matchup, where he was scheduled to compete in tag action along with partners Yota Tsuji and Yuya Uemura against Shota Umino, Jushin Thunder Liger, and Kota Ibushi. NJPW also reveals that Ospreay’s status for his July 18th A-Block bout against Kota Ibushi is yet to be determined.
Will Ospreay will miss tonight’s #g129 event due to injury.
Ospreay is not suffering from any skeletal or nervous issues.

Ospreay would release his own statement on Twitter alerting fans that he’ll do his best to be able to continue with the tournament.
Sorry I couldn’t make it out there guys. I’m in a huge amount of pain right now but New Japan is giving me all the best treatment and taking great care of my health.
I’ll do my best to continue the G1. https://t.co/pSVsh82sqW

In the past, superstars who were unable to compete for a tournament matchup would be counted as a loss, with little time to make the match up due to the G1’s grueling schedule.
