Wrestler Steve “Dr. Hannibal” Gillespie Has Passed Away At 56

Pro-wrestler Steve Gillespie, who is best known for his run as Dr. Hannibal, was found dead in his car yesterday at the age of 56. At this time, there are no additional details.

Gillespie appeared in a number of Canadian promotions throughout the 80s and 90s including Stampede Wrestling and Canadian Rocky Mountain wrestling. He worked in WWE as an enhancement talent, where he would wrestle under his real name. He used the moniker Dr. Hannibal in the Japanese promotion FMW, teaming occasionally with Dr. Luther, who is currently signed with AEW. The doctors feuded against legends Mr. Onita, Sabu, and Sheik among others.

On behalf of everyone at LoP, we’d like to wish our condolences to the friends and family of the departed.
