According to the Wrestling Observer Jim Ross is facing some difficulties with the WWE, who are not allowing Ross to provide commentary for AXS TV, which includes their broadcast of NJPW’s WrestleKingdom 13. While JR hasn’t been heavily used by AXS, he was offered a spot as an analyst for Kazushi Sakuraba’s submission tournament on UFC Fight Pass.
However, because JR’s WWE contract doesn’t expire until March 31st 2019 he will not be allowed to call the event, nor was he able to re-up his AXS contract for 2019. This was done in part by the WWE due to the immediate sellout of the ROH/NJPW show taking place during WrestleMania weekend at Madison Square Garden. Unless Ross decides to sign a new deal with WWE, he will be a free agent by April 1st.
